Hi! I’m Scottie! In January 2008, when I was 22 months old, I was diagnosed with an inoperable brainstem tumor. A biopsy revealed it was a GBM. Yikes! We were told my prognosis was extremely poor and that I would probably not live out the year. But I wasn’t going to take that!

I went through six weeks of radiation and intravenous chemo followed by 3 years of maintenance chemo that, thankfully, I took orally at home! Guess what, I took my last dose of chemo in January 2011 and have been cancer free ever since!

My road to recovery will be a long one. Complications from treatment arise frequently, and I cannot walk without assistance. But hey, if I beat brain cancer, then I can handle any other complications that come my way!

Oh, and by the way, I have been at every Run for the Rose since I was diagnosed in 2008 and look forward to many more years crossing the finish line!
