Mikayla Quindoy was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma on December 31, 2014. Her team of physicians included Dr. Jennifer Foster from Texas Children’s Hospital and Dr. Paulino from MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mikayla completed a six-week course of radiation and a trial medication on February 24, 2015. Upon completion of her treatment, the Make-A-Wish foundation sent Mikayla and her family to Orlando, Florida. In Orlando, Mikayla visited Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Hollywood Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World.
Her favorite experience was getting a chance to visit Rapunzel, Pocahontas, Cinderella, and all of the princesses. She loved Universal Studios, since she even had the experience to “Meet the Minions.” Mikayla’s favorite activities included drawing, coloring and reading. She also enjoyed science and learning at school. Mikayla was a fun-loving spirit who enjoyed dance and she loved being goofy with her broMikayla Renae Quindoy, 7, passed away surrounded by her loving family Thursday, December 10, 2015.
